A little introduction

In an era of self-promotion, I guess I’m supposed to have a blog, especially as I’m about to embark on a world tour with Remote Year.  I guess I’m also supposed to get on the Snapface or Instawhatever, purchase some specialized travel backpack and who knows what else.

Of course, I know from personality testing that anyone telling me I “should” be doing something will automatically get me to thinking, “justify to me why I should do this.”

I do, however, recognize that I should keep a journal of this upcoming voyage.  That, combined with the fact that I have a ton of opinions (don’t worry, I make up for it by almost always being correct) I’d like to put down on paper (or pixels) if only to help myself figure something, make me think its time to begin my own blog – if only for my own reflection.

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going. -Jim Ryun

So that said, I’ve got this started. But now, after a week on the road* I’ve got to get to work.

*The past week was weird -getting up when I wanted, riding my bike, working out enough to eat what I wanted, seeing friends and relatives, playing with my dog, no e-mail access, no stress.  I guess that’s what a vacation feels like.  Maybe I’ll try another one this decade.
